🖤 Why Juneteenth Matters for Kids

Juneteenth (June 19) marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were told they were free — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

It’s a day to honor:

  • Black history and heritage
  • The long fight for justice and equality
  • The joy, creativity, and strength of the Black community

As parents, teachers, and caregivers, we have a chance to share that legacy with the next generation in empowering ways.
